AbstractThe flexural response and failure of reinforced concrete rectangular slabs subjected to blast loading are investigated based on the rigid-plastic modelling. The effects of orthotropic reinforcement and asymmetric support bending restraints are incorporated to account for structural configurations and detailing. Two schemes of failure pattern are introduced and features of dynamic response under typical blast loading are outlined. Numerical studies are carried out and the results obtained from the present model and explicit finite element simulations are compared.
