AbstractAccumulation of carbonyl derivatives of proteins (protein carbonyl) is taken as a biomarker of oxidative protein damage in aging and in various diseases. We detected protein carbonyls in situ in human diabetic arteriosclerotic tissues and characterized the formation of protein carbonyls.
