AbstractIn this paper, we study the semantics of fuzzy sets. We show that fuzzy sets can be interpreted as the aggregation of a set of observations. We formalize this interpretation by means of the OWA and the WOWA operators. The introduction of the WOWA operator allows the user to weigh each observation
