AbstractIn this paper discrete inequalities are used to offer sufficient conditions for the oscillation of all solutions of the difference equation \Delta\bigl(a_n(\Delta y_n)^{\sigma}\bigr)+q_{n+1}f(y_{n+1})=r_n,\qquad n\ge 0 where 0<σ=p/qwithp,qodd integers, orpeven andqodd integers. Several examples which dwell upon the importance of our results are also included
