AbstractThe implementation of change in schools has implications for the culture that has developed in schools. This article explores aspects of the current practices in culture changes and the need to improve schools. I present a case study that focuses on principals’ managerialist functions that necessitate the integration of policies. An interpretive research with grounded theory included both qualitative elements, namely in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that contextual factors influence the changes in culture of each school and that the driving forces need to be identified to assist in the ventures.
