AbstractEndoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been accepted as a major modality of treatment for superficial neoplasms in the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus. Advantages of ESD are its less invasiveness and higher curability compared to surgery and conventional endoscopic mucosal resection in the esophagus, respectively. However, ESD still poses technical difficulty. Here the authors demonstrate the technique of esophageal ESD in a patient with superficial squamous cell carcinoma.
