El disenso inagotable: debates sobre la dimensión social del conocimiento en la Epistemología Social

ResumenEl objetivo central del ensayo es comparar la noción de la dimensión social del conocimiento con la que dos reconocidos autores en el campo de la Epistemología Social como Alvin Goldman y Steve Fuller han desarrollado sus respectivos proyectos. El trabajo está dividido en cuatro secciones. En la primera, expongo el contexto de discusión que antecede a la Epistemología Social. Teniendo dicho precedente, en las siguientes dos secciones señalo, de manera muy sintética, las interpretaciones que Alvin Goldman y Steve Fuller han dado respectivamente a la principal inquietud de la Epistemología Social acerca de la factibilidad y necesidad de realizar juicios normativos sobre la dimensión social del conocimiento. Por último, en la sección final concluyo con una interpretación de esta disputa y las expectativas futuras de este programa bajo el supuesto de la pertinencia de vislumbrar niveles múltiples de normatividad tanto desde la Epistemología Social como desde la Sociología.AbstractThe goal of this paper compares the notion of social dimension of knowledge in two recently projects of Social Epistemology developed by A. Goldman and S. Fuller. The work in divide in four sections. In the first, expose the context and antecedents of Social Epistemology. With this background in the next two sections, I note in a brief way Goldman’s and Fuller’s explanations about why they consider in their own perspective the feasibility and necessity to develop normative judgements about social dimension of knowledge. Finally, in the last section I conclude talking about the need of still looking for meeting points between the normative and the descriptive perspectives of knowledge, to be able to build correct and multidimentional images of normativity from social epistemology and sociology
