AbstractIn the current work evaluation of CO2 release velocity profiles is determined using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The formation of solid CO2 particles using the rapid expansion of nozzle flow is used as a seeder particle, making the method truly nonintrusive and negates the use of special seeder equipment. Preliminary tests have been conducted on low speed large CO2 particles. High-speed release PIV experiments have been conducted for a range of storage pressures between 60 and 150 bars using a 13mm (1/2 inch) diameter nozzle.
