AbstractBackgroundAlthough new approaches to the treatment of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) are significantly prolonging their lives, most patients will eventually develop respiratory failure due to progressive bronchiectasis caused by chronic lung infection and inflammation and die from to respiratory failure.
