Overproduction of inflammatory mediators, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF), is key to the development and maintenance of inflammatory processes. Etanercept is a soluble TNF receptor fusion protein used in the treatment of various chronic inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. This study investigated the effects of murine p75-Fc, a soluble TNF receptor protein, on TNF-induced IL-6 production in mice. Six groups of mice received either murine p75-Fc (0.15, 0.50, 1.5, 5, and 15 mg/kg) or phosphate-buffered saline.
