AbstractThe work is based on the EU Directive 2012/27/EU concerning energy efficiency. One of the objectives for energy efficient solutions is improvement of existing district heating systems. Compared to individual boilers, district heating ensures a low-carbon and cost-effective way to heat buildings. In order to determine what would make significant improvement in the existing heating system and to identify what specific energy efficiency measures can be applied, it is necessary to evaluate the current situation. The study identified the potential heat consumers in the Salaspils municipality through a software of geographical information systems.
