Related with the studies of second language acquisition, this study explores the written lexical availability in learners of Spanish as second language (SSL) at the beginning of their immersion period in Santiago, Chile. We consider the sociolinguistic factor of sex from a quantitative perspective. The linguistic factor of the mother tongue, and the cognitive factor of their proficiency in L2, were both considered from a descriptive point of view.
