AbstractLessons of a foreign language are primarily designed to establish and develop communicative competences in the target language, but they are also a good opportunity to teach social, personal, interpersonal and intercultural skills. The problem of intercultural competences is discussed from the point of view of cultural differences, possible communication barriers, global education and the problematics of foreign language tuition, where model situations for trade and tourism could be practised and the knowledge about possible barriers could be presented
