Gambling addiction is characterized both by loss of control with respect to gambling and such behaviour leading to problems in the different areas of the addict’s life. This is therefore included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V) as one of the criteria for a diagnostic assessment. Aim: to describe and analyse the different elements comprising the complex problems accompanying this addiction that may result in social exclusion.
