Background and Objective. The association between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene polymorphisms (-2578C/A, +936C/T, and -460C/T) and lung cancer risk has been extensively studied in the last decades, but currently available results remain controversial or ambiguous. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to assess whether the relationship between the VEGF gene and lung cancer susceptibility exists. Methods. The meta-analysis was conducted by searching the databases PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science covering all eligible studies published up to October 1, 2017.
