This study was aimed at identifying the misconception of Mathematics Education students in the formulation of research methods in their proposals. This study was descriptive quantitative. The population consisted of 195 students of Mathematics Education Department, year 2014, Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. The sample was collected using exhaustive sampling on the entire research population. Data were collected by documentation and closed-option questionnaires. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. Analysis of Certainty of Response Index (CRI) was used to find out errors and misconceptions.
