AbstractIn this paper, novel method based on loss sensitivity approach is utilized to determine optimal locations and size of the capacitors in radial distribution system to reduce power losses and improve voltage profile. Reduction in power loss enhances energy efficiency in distribution system also releases feeder capacity. Distribution system has combination of different type of loads (Industrial, commercial and Residential). Load models have significant impact on selecting capacitor size for better deployment of reactive power support.
