Investigating the Role of Hopefulness and Personal Well-being in Life Satisfaction of the Elderly in Tehran

Aim: This study is aimed at investigating the role of hopefulness and social well-being in life satisfaction of the elderly in Tehran. Methodology: In order to achieve the foregoing aim, a sample of 220 elderly people (122 women and 98 men) were selected from among the people at public places such as shopping centers, parks and cultural centers using simple random sampling method. Then, the elderly were studied by means of the scales of hopefulness, social well-being and life satisfaction. In order to analyze the data, the researchers employed descriptive statistics (Pearson correlation) and inferential statistics (multiple regression method). Findings: Research results suggest that there is a significant positive correlation between the elderly people's hopefulness, social well-being and life satisfaction. Conclusion: There is a positive relation between the elderly people's hopefulness and social well-being and life satisfaction
