Upaya Guru Meningkatkan Kemampuan Koneksi dan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Peserta Didik melalui Pendekatan Open Ended

The purpose of this study is to study increased connections abilities and mathematical problem solving of the student in the learning of mathematics through open-ended approach. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 9 Bandung in the academic year of 2008/2009. The sample of this research was two classes of the eight available classes of grade X of even semester which were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The method used experimental method by using “pretest-postest group control design”. The results of this research was learning through open-ended approach could increase the ability of connections and solving mathematical problems of the students which was better than conventional learning. Learning through open ended approach could increase the ability of connections and solving mathematical problems of the students in the average level. ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat peningkatan kemampuan koneksi dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik dalam pembelajaran matematika melalui pendekatan open ended. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 9 Bandung pada tahun pelajaran 2008/2009. Sampel penelitian dipilih dua kelas dari delapan kelas yang ada pada kelas X semester genap dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian “disain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes”. Adapun hasil penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran melalui pendekatan open ended dapat meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik yang lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional. Pembelajaran melalui pendekatan open ended dapat meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik dengan kualitas peningkatan tergolong sedang.
