Analysis of Prospect of Agro-tourism Attractiveness Based on Location Characteristics

AbstractThis study was aimed to determine the location characteristics affecting agro-tourism attractiveness in the coastal areas of Bantul regency and to estimate the prospect of agro-tourim attractiveness of Goa Cemara beach relative to other beaches in Bantul regency. The relationships of agro-tourism location characteristics such as natural attractiveness, cleanliness, hospitality of agro-tourism service providers, supporting facilities and safety factor against the agro-tourism attractiveness of the beach were analysed by non-linear regression methods, while the prospect of relative attractiveness of Goa Cemara beach was analyzed by using Markov chain method. The results showed that 69.9% of agro-tourism attractiveness in the coastal areas of Bantul regency was influenced by their respective location characteristics, 68.9% of which was dominated by natural attractiveness. Based on the probability of visitors's shifted preferences in the coastal areas of Bantul regency, the result of Markov chain analysis indicated that the prospect of relative attractiveness of the Goa Cemara beach which was initially only 3.5% would substantially increase in the steady state condition, reaching to 33.6%
