AbstractTo study the structure of the Newton-Padé table a new concept—the minimal solution—is introduced. The relationship of the minimal solution with the Newton-Padé approximant is given. A notion of normality, called paranormality, is introduced for the minimal solutions. A paranormal minimal solution is proved to have a characterization analogous to that of a normal Padé approximant
