BACKGROUNDSingle nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of deoxycytidine kinase (dCK) and cytidine deaminase (CDA) are known to alter their enzymatic activities, which affect the metabolism of cytarabine. Currently, treatment of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) includes cytarabine, especially in high-risk patients.
