In this study, the butterfly fauna of Erbil Province (northern region of Iraq) is investigated for the first time. For this purpose, 1240 collected specimens are evaluated and 55 species are recorded belonging to superfamilies Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea. Valid scientific names, materials, collecting localities and distributions of each species in the region, are given
