Nicola Vaptsarov’s Literary Creativity and His Poems Translated into Turkish

Nikola Vaptsarov is famous for his poetry in which he reflects the sufferings of Bulgarian-Macedonian worker class and the strength of the people in the pre-WWII period. Vaptsarov places the laborers who have both social and personal predicaments and their struggle for food, happiness and liberty into the center of his natural and plain poetry style. His notion that “tomorrow” will be better than “today” which exists in his poems rooted in a deep optimism is clearly reflected in the Turkish translations of his poems.
