REFLEXÃO SOBRE DIFERENTES CONCEPÇÕES DE EDUCAÇÃO BILÍNGUE

Until recently, bilingual education was aimed at the few who could afford to pay for elite schools. However, in recent years, bilingual public projects have emerged, and the number of private schools calling themselves bilinguals has grown. Yet, the concept of what would be bilingual education does not seem to be totally clear, especially for those who are more involved in the process: educators, students and their parents. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to reflect on the concept of bilingualism, considering a review of literature on the subject, and analyzing the results of a research with a group of language teachers, presenting their conceptions about what would be "bilingual education", and their opinions regarding the feasibility of applying such a model to public and private schools. Based on the result, it is possible to perceive that the concept still diffuses, even for educators working on bilingual projects
