The present article proposes to present a research that deals with Rural Education and has the scope to problematize the social function of the rural school in settlements of agrarian reform, with the contribution of the philosophical principles of education to the Movement of Landless Workers (MLW). The school is located in the Jose Maria settlement, in Abelardo Luz, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The methodological option was a historical-organizational case study, through documentary research.
