Levinas and Buber have tried to illuminate the primordial strucures and original features of interpersonal relations by different concepts. While Levinas deals with the alterity and the irreducubility of ethical relation with the Other, Buber focuses on the I-You dialogue on the grounds of reciprocity and symmetry. In this paper, mainly the ethical relation with the Other in the ‘face-to-face’ philosohy of Levinas and the immediate relation of I-You in the dialogic philosophy of Buber will be investigated. Common and distinctive remarks of both philosphers on ‘I’, ‘You’ and Other will also be scrutinized and compared
