LEGAL STATUS OF THE CASPİAN SEA AND SHARİNG OF ENERGY RESOURCES: DİSPUTES AND STRUGGLES BETWEEN THE RİPARİAN COUNTRİES

The Caspian basin is a major reserve for the world's energy reserves and production in terms of its oil and natural gas resources. The basin emerges as a safer place compared to the instability and conflict environment in the Middle East, which is important for energy demanding countries in terms of "energy supply security". The purpose of this study is to identify the state of the energy resources in the region and to examine the legal problem between countries that are coastal to the Caspian Sea. The legal problem of the Caspian has a great impact on the sharing of regional energy resources. Especially in recent years, with the passage of new oil and natural gas pipeline projects, the Caspian legal status issue has become an important issue to be solved. In this context, the energy struggle between the countries of the region and the treaties of the Caspian countries regarding the status of the Caspian will be tried to be evaluated. This study is considered as a case study which is an empirical research method.
