WorldWise Global Schools, the Irish government’s development education (DE) programme for post-primary schools in Ireland, concluded its first phase of operation in May 2016. This article draws from the findings of the final evaluation of the programme conducted by one of the authors. The article outlines the context, progress and recommendations from the programme’s first phase, with a view to incorporating lessons learned into any future support provided for schools. The programme aims to enable schools to embed development education effectively and sustainably into their teaching and learning
