EMPLOYERS’ PERSPECTIVE ON THE ACADEMIC PERTINENCE OF THE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS AT UNIVERSIDAD DE CALDAS, 2015

This research was descriptive of experimental nature and had as main objective to assess the social pertinence of the academic undergraduate and graduate programs at Universidad de Caldas for the 2010-2014 period. A non-probabilistic sample was taken with 395 employers for the different academic programs analyzed who voluntarily filled out a survey previously sent to their email. The study carried out with employers of graduates from different undergraduate and graduate programs from Universidad de Caldas for the period 2010-2014 shows a high to very high degree of satisfaction in the competences required for professional performance among which abstract reasoning, analysis and synthesis are highlighted. Employers also valued the competences dealing with capacity to learn and update permanently, ability to work as a team, and the use of computer tools. Employees suggest the improvement in communicative mastery in a second language during the graduates training process
