The author investigates the phenomenon of hyperbole and its roots in the Spanish language. The difference between the hyperbole of the colloquial style and the hyperbole of the colloquial speech, its differences from the hyperbole of an artist's style are concreted. Different types of fraseological units, based on hyperbole, are investigated in the article, too
