ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND DIVERSIFICATION IN THE GULF GROUP COUNTRIES: CURRENT TRENDS

The article shows that in the conditions of global instability, on the one hand, and the need to ensure long-term sustainable development, on the other, the GCC countries consistently carry out the process of diversification of the national economy. The author comes to the conclusion that the GCC countries for a number of years in place concrete steps to diversify and already have some positive results, manifested in the formation of new industries and the development of services that provided some stability to these countries in 2014-2015. At the same time, the author comes to the conclusions that in the region persists and are severe limitations in this process as an objective (factor), and certain deficiencies in the implementation of strategic programs. At the same time, according to the author, the experience of the GCC countries in the implementation of the process of economic diversification can be useful for other states with significant raw materials, including the Russian Federation
