The paper deals with the calculation of circular arches with variable cross section on the basis of the application of the main provisions of the general theory of composite rods of A.R. Rzhanitsina. Used the expression obtained by the author to determine the equivalent vogue-ing strain, taking into account the compressibility of the axis of the arch, the shear strain in the rods exercises appropriate arch, nonlinear relation between strain and stress, and strain associated with distortion-WIDE shape of the cross-section of the arch bars
