The authors consider such a new and important phenomenon today as New Media, citizen journalism and crowdsourcing. The authors emphasize the advantageous features of the new media, unlike the traditional ones. The article presents statistical data to support the introduction of the Internet in the modern society’s life. Uniqueness and innovativeness article is that the author considers the genre of investigative journalism as a new Internet trends. The authors theorize about how crowdsourcing can be used as a tool for citizen journalism
