In cognitive radio (CR) networks, the role of spectrum sensing (SS) is crucial to enable an efficient exploitation of the radio spectrum resource. The need to measure spectrum occupancy turns CRs to be de facto measurement instruments, so it becomes crucial to analyze how real instrumentation peculiarities could affect performance in spectral measurements (i.e., SS performance).
