The new physics of knowledge: A philosophy of information

The dualism of mind and reality, the self-reflective nature of knowledge, the emergence of the infosphere as the true habitat of mental life and the constructivist capacities of the mind, are some of the most innovative issues facing philosophical reflection of today. They are not completely new, because, at least since the Renaissance, the mind has constantly moved away from reality, intentionally building and refining its own virtual reality as an alternative to real reality. These problems are also very far from having reached their maximum development, and this is what makes their understanding a pressing issue, but they have certainly become more and more clearly discernible since the twentieth century. It is with respect to the new characteristics of knowledge and human culture that Greek intellectualism becomes completely inadequate and a new theory of the genesis of the epistemic relationship between mind and reality is required. This article describes how technological developments created the infosphere as a new physics of knowledge, that humanity has to learn to manage and in which philosophy plays a transcendental role
