Abstract Background Beginning in 2010, China has endeavoured to expand health coverage and provide residents with fair access to primary health care with the intention of improving health equity. This study aims to measure changes in income-related health inequity in China between 2010 and 2014. Methods Data were extracted from the nationally representative annual survey of the China Family Panel Studies in 2010 and 2014 with a first wave of 31,743 respondents and a second wave of 32,006 respondents over age 15. In both years, subjects were stratified into the following five categories of income: poorest 20%, lower 20%, medium 20%, higher 20% and richest 20%.
