Findings of Cerebral Digital Substraction Angiography in Patient with Ischemic Stroke

INTRODUCTION: Although recent advances in noninvasive imaging, cerebral angiography is still gold standard for diagnosis and treatment of patients with cerebrovascular disease. The aim of this study was to documented of digital substraction angiography (DSA) results in patient with ischemic stroke and TIA. METHODS: These data were collected from our electronic hospital information system and/or our department's local archive data. Patients' ages, sex, sheath entry points, used catheters, aortic arch types, anterior and posterior circulatory abnormalities, and procedural complications were recorded. RESULTS: Cerebral DSA were performed to a total of 153 stroke and TIA patients. Patients were 19- 90 age range and the average age was 52.5. 104 (67.9%) of the patients were male and 49 (32.1%) were female. One or more of 5F Vertebral, 6F Jutkins, 5F Simmons type I, 5F Simmons type II, 5F Head Hunter (HH), 5F Bern catheters were used for anterior and posterior cerebral circulation angiography. One type of catheters were used in 99 patients, 2 different types in 41 patients, and 3 different catheters in 10 patients. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: After noninvasive neuroimagings in patient with stroke, if there is an uncertainity, DSA could be performed for cleared a question in extra-intra cranial cerebral vascular anatomy
