On the eve of the second centenary of the Independence of Ibero-American countries, the Bolivarian narrative has retained its indisputable importance. The narrative woven around the character of Simón Bolívar does not only shape some individual national narratives. Indeed, it also transcends time and space and emerges as the symbol of continental identity and integration. This article traces this narrative back to Mi Delirio sobre el Chimborazo, written by Bolivar in 1822. This foundational text establishes the creation of a New World and hinges on the transformation of Man into a promethean titan
