In presented paper influence of the underground mining waste on the environmental was investigated. From that point tailings and wastewater characterization was performed on samples taken from lead and zinc mine Grot, Serbia. In order to obtain experiments necessary for characterization, representative samples were taken from three different parts of the tailings: outlet pipe of the flotation facility (JOF), hydro cyclone overflow (JHC) and crest of dam (JKB).
