Self-perception of one's own communicative ability - observed in the context of providing socialization/activity, self-confidence in communication and achievement of individual roles - and quality of life were examined by appropriate instruments (Quality of Communication Life Scale - ASHA QCL and Quality of Life Inventory - QOLI). The sample consisted of 60 persons with aphasia resulting from vascular insults, in a period between two and twenty months after a stroke. As a group, participants with aphasia showed a relatively low evaluation of their own communicative abilities regardless of the domain of manifestation, as well as the type of aphasia.
