In December 1945, that is, soon after the end of the Pacific War, pro-Chinese Communist Party weekly journal, Feng Xia, was published mainly by Chinese literators (writers) who had come to Malaya prior to, or immediately after the War. In the following year, they published Nan Chiau Jit Pao as virtually an organ paper of the Malayan branch of the China Democratic League which was a pro-CCP party formed in China. Malayan-born leftist Chinese also contributed articles to Feng Xia. While the great majority of articles advocated to support the liberation movement in China, they appealed to fight for the liberation of Malaya as well.
