Des fondements matérialistes de la critique

The sixth issue of the French Journal of Information Science and Communication aims to present “a review of current research on uses and users”. Patrick-Yves Badillo and Nicolas Pelissier thought that it would be useful to provide a reflection on critical approaches about social uses’ studies. Initially asked to draw up a map of the area, in terms of critical analysis models that we encounter in some of these territories, we would prefer to propose a contribution explaining in details the critical approaches, beyond the practical adjustments that they do when they deal with social uses of digital media. Therefore, the article presents the main epistemological supports for social sciences when they claim criticism, whatever the discipline is (sociology, history, ICS, etc.) and whatever their research’ objects are
