Ureterocalicostomy offers distinct advantages over conventional Anderson–Hynes pyeloplasty for the primary surgical management of pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction, notably for obstruction secondary to complicating anatomical anomalies of the kidney, such as horseshoe kidney.
