Introduction. Bone density measurements during the last decade have demonstrated that bone loss is common in patients with overt hyperthyroidism and to a lesser extent in those with subclinical hyperthyroidism, whether caused by nodular goiter or excessive doses of thyroid hormone. Overt hyperthyroidism is associated with accelerated bone remodeling, reduced bone density, osteoporosis, and an increase in fracture rate. The bone density changes may or may not be reversible with therapy. These changes in bone metabolism are associated with negative calcium balance, hypercalciuria and, rarely, hypercalcemia. Aim. To investigate frequency and structure of bone disease in patients with thyrotoxicosis, and also to find out the features of clini...
Introduction: Untreated hyperthyroidism is associated with accelerated bone turnover, low bone miner...
Thyroid diseases have widespread systemic manifestations including their effect on bone metabolism. ...
The aim of our study was to elucidate whether endogenous subclinical hyperthyroidism due to an auton...
Thyrotoxicosis has long been known to accelerate bone turnover and thus increase the risk for develo...
Thyroid hormones are essential for normal skeletal development and normal bone metabolism in adults ...
Thyroid hormones affect bone metabolism by altering normal bone remodeling processes. This study inv...
Subclinical hyperthyroidism (SHyper) has been associated with increased risk of hip and other fractu...
The objective of this study was to establish the relationship between the levels of thyroid hormones...
Objective. The osteoporosis in thyroid disorder has the lowest report especially in sub-Saharan Afri...
