Discours journalistiques sur le métissage

The ethnic mix on the island is one of the transversal themes which characterizes the media in Martinique. It is particularly the result of how journalists present events. They are not simply passive participants in what they present. The way they approach the topics is an influential factor in the thematic treatment of current events that touches on issues of ethnicity, ethnic mix and cultural and ethnic identity.This study is the result of an on-site survey in Martinique. It was conducted using directive conversations with journalists working for the majority of the local media on the island. The objective of the study is to highlight (the mechanisms of communication, cultural systems) that have allowed the ethnic mix of the island to play a role in how the media treats the news
