Pensée critique latino-américaine : de la philosophie de la libération au tournant décolonial

This paper is an introduction to Latin American critical thought, from the philosophy of liberation to the decolonial turn proposed by the multidisciplinary research group known as the modernity/coloniality group. First, we present the main contributions of the philosophy of liberation as a form of Latin American critical thought. Next we approach the question of the current relevance of the initial motivations and concerns of the philosophy of liberation on one hand, as well as the relevance of its theses and of his main categories on the other hand. In the third and fourth sections of the paper, we present the main critiques of this current over its forty years of existence. Finally, we introduce the modernity/coloniality group’s « decolonial turn ». We seek to highlight the notion of pluriversality proposed by the thinkers presented here
