This article examines the developments regarding labor-state relations during the Vicente Fox administration (2000-2006), the first president of the democratic era in Mexico. The assessment is conducted from a dual perspective, considering both democratization and its effects on corporatism. On the one hand, the effects of political democratization on the relations between the state and labor organizations are considered. On the other hand, the reshaping of the authoritarian corporatist structure in the labor sphere is examined, a characteristic of the hegemonic party-state.
