Socioespacial transformations in the north coast of bahia and the importance of territorial planning

The coastal zone is a space where they develop various forms of use and occupation that increasingly emphasize the mosaic of inequalities feeding a model that lies in the intensification of uses and degradation of many ecosystems. The diversity of activities diagnosed along the coastal zone such as those related the tourism, the agricultural, the commercial, industrial, those relating to transport, oil exploration favors the existence of unique uses targeted the interests of hegemonic actors. Thus, it can be seen a growing appreciation of multiple coastal areas according to their functions linked to national and international markets, which makes the locus of human and economic output. In the Litoral Norte of Bahia, stand out modernizing of activities that aim to bring socio-economic development of this region. Under this logic, tourism is shaping up as an opportunity for the full development and even immediate benefits provided through the structures. At the same time, misuses and occupation processes that occur without planning become effective in coastal areas. For these conditions, we observed an expansion of tourist activities over this region, incorporating more and more new segments, however, other processes occur simultaneously. Industrialization and agriculture also transform the coastal landscape of the North Coast. And the confluence of these activities, in coexistence with traditional populations occupying this territory, has created a scenario of socio-environmental conflicts. In the Conde, the impacts are already being felt, related at inappropriate use of the coast, the agricultural exploitation, the tourist activities, and the transformation of the natural order. So grows the need to (re) think the logic of planning Coastal, which should be directed to sustainable uses and the preservation, conservation and restoration of ecosystems, especially to favor the participation of the communities that are most affected by transformations
