Los estereotipos de Barcelona : de rebelde, desleal y revolucionaria a regionalizada y pacífica

The image of the city of Barcelona was a consequence of the interaction of the image formulated by the foreigners or authorities with the self-perception that it had their fellow citizens. This article proposes a route through the stereotypes that converged in the city of Barcelona for almost a century. First, the rebellious and disloyal image of the city before to industrialization and the Liberal Revolution prevailed; these two processes turned Barcelona into a revolutionary and subversive city. Later, the regionalism of the elites through the cultural movement of the Renaixença transmitted an image of a peaceful, monarchic and Catholic city
